What is moving prices
- Futures were slightly weaker: MCX gold was near ₹1,39,284 per 10 grams (down ₹168) and MCX silver near ₹1,77,803 per kg (down about ₹1,900) in the morning.
- Global spot gold slipped below $3,940 an ounce after touching above $3,964.
- Markets are pricing roughly a 75-78% chance of a US Federal Reserve rate hike in December, as per reports. Higher US rates usually weigh on gold.

What it means for you
- These rates usually exclude 3% GST and making charges. Example: a 10 g 22K chain at ₹1,28,250 with 10% making charges could cost about ₹1.45 lakh after 3% GST. Making charges vary a lot, so ask for a full bill breakup.
- Buy only BIS hallmarked jewellery and check the HUID code on the bill.
