Why markets keep falling
- Oil above $114: crude rose another 1% to $114.7 a barrel on West Asia supply fears. India buys most of its oil abroad, so high prices feed inflation and hurt profits.
- Foreign selling: foreign investors have been selling heavily; Indian funds are buying, but not enough to stop the slide.
- Weak results: Swiggy fell 15% after its results,, and Infosys cut its full-year growth forecast.
What to watch next week
- Jio Platforms allotment (26 October) and listing (28 October).
- The US Federal Reserve’s meeting on 27–28 October.
- Crude oil prices and any fuel price changes.
If you invest through SIPs, keep going: falls like this let you buy more units at lower prices. Avoid putting money you will need soon into small-cap funds during such swings.
