In short: Indian fintech startups raised $2.2 billion between January and September 2026, up 14% from $1.9 billion a year earlier, according to data platform Tracxn. But only 153 funding rounds were closed, down 41% from 260.

Why it matters

Investors are backing fewer, bigger and more established companies. Late-stage funding nearly doubled to $1.5 billion, while early-stage funding fell 33% to $668 million and seed funding fell 57% to $73.8 million. Just five rounds of $100 million or more made up almost half of all the money raised.

The biggest rounds

  • CRED: $540 million (June)
  • KreditBee: $220 million (April)
  • Weaver: $103 million (March)
  • slice: $100 million (September)
  • Navi: $100 million (August)

Good to know

Three fintechs listed on the stock market this year (Kissht, Turtlemint and Augmont), and three became unicorns (KreditBee, Square Yards and Neo Group). Digital lending and payments drew the most money, and Bengaluru-based companies raised more than three-fifths of the total.
