In short: Reliance Industries, India’s most valuable company, reported results for July–September 2026 (Q2 FY27) on Friday evening, 30 October. Net profit hit a record ₹29,550 crore, up 33.8% from a year ago. Revenue rose 27.8% to ₹3,62,268 crore. The oil-to-chemicals business did most of the heavy lifting, Jio grew steadily, and retail profit fell 8.6%.

What drove the quarter

  • Refining and petrochemicals: strong margins pushed this segment to its best quarter ever.
  • Jio: the customer base reached 54.24 crore (542.4 million), with 30 crore 5G users. Jio Platforms completed its ₹30,188 crore IPO on 28 October (our listing-day report).
  • Retail: the company blamed higher input costs and festive shopping shifting into October–December for the dip in profit. JioMart revenue still grew 42%.
  • Debt: net debt fell about 4.7% in the quarter, helped by IPO money and ₹27,500 crore of loans repaid early.

What it means for you

  • If you hold Reliance shares directly or through Nifty or Sensex index funds, these results matter: Reliance is one of the biggest weights in both indices.
  • A rising Jio ARPU means each customer is paying more on average. Mobile tariffs are a household cost worth watching.
  • One strong quarter does not tell you where a share price will go. Markets reopen on Monday, 2 November, and will react then.
