In short: Pensioners must prove every year that they are alive to keep getting their pension. Pensioners aged 80 and above could submit their life certificate from 1 October 2026. Other eligible central government pensioners can submit from 1 November. The deadline for both groups is 30 November 2026. If it is missed, pension payments can be held back until the check is done.

Key dates

Ways to submit without visiting a bank

  • Face authentication: on an Android phone with a working front camera, using the AadhaarFaceRD app and the Jeevan Pramaan Face App.
  • Fingerprint or iris device: a biometric device connected to a phone or computer.
  • India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) doorstep service: ask your nearest post office for a postman or Grameen Dak Sevak visit. They complete an Aadhaar-based biometric check, and a Pramaan ID is sent to you. This works for IPPB and non-IPPB customers if your pension-paying agency accepts digital life certificates.
  • In person: you can still submit at your bank branch or pension-paying office.

Keep ready: your Aadhaar number, the mobile number linked to it, your Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, pension account number and the name of your pension-paying agency. After the certificate is made, you can download it from the Jeevan Pramaan portal.

What it means for you

  • Do it early in November. Servers and bank branches get busy close to the deadline.
  • Help elderly parents with the face app at home. It avoids a branch visit.
  • Keep the Pramaan ID or downloaded certificate as proof that you submitted.
  • Stay safe: use only official apps and portals. No government office will ask for your OTP, bank PIN or password by phone. Report suspicious calls to your bank or the national cybercrime portal.
