1. Who we are

Koshfin (koshfin.com) is a website that publishes guides, tools and news about personal finance. In this policy, “Koshfin”, “we” and “us” mean the people who run this website. If you have any question about your data, see the Contact section below.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Messages and forms: if you contact us or fill in a form, we receive what you type, such as your name, email address and message.
• Email updates: if you sign up for our emails, we store your email address and your subscription choices.
• Comments: if you leave a comment, we store your name, email address, comment and the IP address it came from. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: through Google Analytics we see things like which pages are visited, how long people stay, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location (city or country). We use this in aggregate to improve the site.
• Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request, for security and to keep the site running.

What we do not collect

• The amounts you enter in our calculators, Card Finder or Compare tool. These are worked out in your browser and are not sent to or stored by us.
• Bank account, card, PAN, Aadhaar or other ID numbers. We will never ask for them.

3. How we use your information

• To reply to your messages and requests.
• To send emails you signed up for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• To understand how the site is used and make it better.
• To keep the site secure and prevent spam and misuse.
• To meet our legal obligations.

We use your information only for these purposes, and we rely on your consent or on legitimate uses permitted by law.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use:

• Essential cookies that help pages load quickly and keep the site working.
• Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, which help us count visits and see how pages are used.
• Comment cookies that remember your name and email if you choose to save them when commenting.

5. Affiliate links and partner websites

Some links on Koshfin are affiliate links, including links through EarnKaro. When you click one, the partner may set a cookie so they know the visit came from us. If you then apply for a product, the bank or company handles your application on their own website, under their own privacy policy. We do not receive the details you enter there. 6. Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with:

• Service providers who help us run the site, such as our web host (Hostinger), Google (Analytics) and our email service. They may process data only to provide their service to us.
• Authorities, if we are required to by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Some of these providers may store data outside India. When that happens, we rely on providers that protect data to recognised standards.

7. How long we keep data

• Messages: as long as needed to deal with your request, and then for a reasonable period for our records.
• Email subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
• Comments: for as long as the comment stays on the site.
• Analytics data: kept by Google according to the retention settings of our account.

8. Keeping your data safe

We use secure connections (HTTPS), keep our software up to date and limit who can access the site’s data. No website can be completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

9. Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and similar laws elsewhere, you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
• correct or update it;
• delete it;
• withdraw any consent you gave, such as for emails;
• name another person to exercise these rights for you if you are unable to.

If you are in the European Union or the UK, you also have rights under the GDPR, including the right to object to processing and to complain to your local data protection authority.

To use any of these rights, email us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

10. Children

Koshfin is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us their details, please contact us and we will delete them.

11. Other websites

Our pages link to banks, card issuers and other websites. We are not responsible for how they handle your data, so please read their privacy policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
