What drove the quarter
- Refining and petrochemicals: strong margins pushed this segment to its best quarter ever.
- Jio: the customer base reached 54.24 crore (542.4 million), with 30 crore 5G users. Jio Platforms completed its ₹30,188 crore IPO on 28 October (our listing-day report).
- Retail: the company blamed higher input costs and festive shopping shifting into October–December for the dip in profit. JioMart revenue still grew 42%.
- Debt: net debt fell about 4.7% in the quarter, helped by IPO money and ₹27,500 crore of loans repaid early.
What it means for you
- If you hold Reliance shares directly or through Nifty or Sensex index funds, these results matter: Reliance is one of the biggest weights in both indices.
- A rising Jio ARPU means each customer is paying more on average. Mobile tariffs are a household cost worth watching.
- One strong quarter does not tell you where a share price will go. Markets reopen on Monday, 2 November, and will react then.
